Repeat Play

Filed under: Things We Do To Get Through the Day — The Mommy @ 6:18 am

Tater has been a trooper today.  She has put up with multiple shopping trips and being out of her usual routine since we’re out of town.  We bought her a new sleeper today with a bunny on the butt.  I laugh every time I see that little Bunny Butt!  I also went “shopping” in Grandma and Grandpa’s garage for some vintage baby clothes they had saved.  SO cute!  I found the cutest little mod dress and a bunch of cute pinafore-looking things.

Today Tater has dealt with many silly caregivers laughing way too loudly and generally acting like idiots all day long (that’s just how we roll in my family).  She didn’t nap much but she was a Happy Girl most of the day anyway.  I am a lucky woman.

Toward the end of the day, though, she had had about enough of all of us and got a little cranky.  At home we resort to “educational development DVDs” later in the day when she gets cranky. Did anyone ever notice the “repeat play” option?  How handy is that?  Tomorrow’s another day to redeem myself…

One-eyed, Sleep-Deprived Mommy with Vertigo

Filed under: Mommy Life — The Mommy @ 6:19 am

What a fitting beginning to my blog.  It’s just like the title says.  Let me explain.  The sleep-deprivation needs no explanation to any mommy out there, I’m sure.  I have a 7 month old and it’s part of the job description.  The vertigo, however, is something that occurred unexpectedly this Sunday.  Thankfully it was not as severe as it was two summers ago when I had my first experience with it.  There were lingering symptoms from this dizziness extravaganza but they were extremely mild.  Until Sunday.  One minute we’re eating yummy, yummy rice cereal and the next minute I’m on the floor, dizzy and feeling like throwing up.  Yeah, fun.  It’s kind of like being drunk but without any of the good times.  So, today I’m feeling quite a bit better.  Good.  Then, while changing Tater’s diapers, she pokes me in the eye.  It would have been funny except that it HURT!  So, tell me, is it a good idea for a sleep-deprived mommy with one good eye and vertigo to be swaying back and forth in a dimly lit room trying to get her child to sleep? I think not.  But that’s a Mommy’s Life.
