Look What I Found!

Filed under: Look What I Found!, Random Mommy Musings, Mommy Life, Baby Style, Family Life — The Mommy @ 6:50 am

These are just too cute! I was over at CrazyforBargains.com looking for cute Christmas pjs and look what I found!

The Grinch Green Striped Footed Blanket Sleeper for Baby and Toddler Boys

The Grinch Pink Max and Cindy Lou Who Footed Blanket Sleeper for Baby and Toddler Girls

Dr. Seuss Little Miss Who Pink Pajamas for Toddler Girls

The Grinch’s Dog Max Red Striped Footed Blanket Sleeper for Infant and Toddlers

The Grinch Green Striped Pajamas for Baby and Toddler Boys

How adorable are those? When I was growing up, we would open Christmas presents on Christmas Day but would beg and beg to open one gift on Christmas Eve. My parents would always give in and guess what the gift they allowed us to open always was? Yep. Pajamas. You’d think we’d learn! I’m thinking about starting the pajama tradition in our family, in part just because I love weird, quirky pajamas! And CrazyforBargains.com has just about any pajama you’re looking for. Characters? Got ‘em. Bunny (and every other imaginable animal) slippers ? Check. Silky soft plush robes. Yep.

If you’ve got little ones who bug the heck outta you to open “just one present, Mom” on Christmas Eve, get ‘em some cute Christmas pj’s they’ll not soon forget.

A Mommy’s Life Halloween Shop

Filed under: Random Mommy Musings, Mommy Life, Baby Style — The Mommy @ 10:02 am

Last week I tried Tater Tot’s ladybug Halloween costume on her. Or, should I say, I tried to try Tater Tot’s ladybug Halloween costume on her. She was not a big fan of the hood and didn’t want to put the thing over her head. She really loved touching it because it’s super-soft but there was no way I was getting that thing over her head. So it’s back to the drawing board. If you’re undecided about what your tot will be for Halloween, check out the ideas and cute costumes at the A Mommy’s Life Halloween Shop . I’m headed over there myself just now to figure out a Plan B…

Feeling Better….Really.

Filed under: Random Mommy Musings, Mommy Life, Baby Style, Family Life, Mommy Body — The Mommy @ 1:46 pm

As predicted, a couple of days later I am feeling better. Just needed a little adjustment of the noggin’. The Grandma is always pretty good at helping me do that. I just expect too much of myself most of the time so it’s pretty easy to get “down”. I’m not real good at not comparing myself to other people sometimes, too, which doesn’t help. And I always think I should be able to do more than I am currently doing. What’s up with that??! Anyway, I’m feeling a bit better. I think I’m back on track. And I’m really feeling like the thyroid meds are working now, which is nice.

I got my Mommy Butt out to the community rec pool for a lap swim yesterday. Hallelujah! It felt so good to swim! It’s been over two years and I miss it! It’s just not possible for me to swim AND for The Daddy to surf during the week so I let him surf. He needs to surf more than I need to swim right now, I think. But I am going to start swimming on Saturdays.

The other day The Daddy came home with a pair of pink
Vans
for Tater Tot. They look so cute on her and she looooves them!
The New Shoesimg_2962.jpgimg_2961.jpg
Aren’t they the cutest teeny-tiny little things? If you don’t have a Vans store near you, Zappos.com Kid’s Shoes
has them. Lots of other cute styles, too. It cracks me up that The Daddy likes to shop for Tater Tot. Who woulda’ thought? Not This Mommy.

I Love Playsuits!

Filed under: Mommy Greenest, Mommy Tips, Random Mommy Musings, Baby Style — The Mommy @ 7:49 pm

Playsuits are the greatest thing since sliced bread! Okay, maybe not that great but, for a relatively fashion-challenged Mommy with not a lot of energy, they are a must! No color coordination required. Except maybe if you’re putting socks on your little one. Or shoes. But for the most part, they are fuss-free! I like that.

Mommy Tip: Another reason I like them is that they are easier to put big ‘ol Cloth Diaper Butts into without making them look like their pants are too tight! No, I haven’t yet gotten around to finding slimmer inserts for the Bum Genius we love. But soon.

Tricky & Titch has some really cute playsuits. This is my favorite:

Their clothes are “Cute, Not Cutesy” and are made of premium combed cotton. The playsuits have envelope necks so they’re easier to get over the heads of Fussy Pants “Miss Independents” (or “Mr. Independents”, as the case may be) and color-coordinated, nickel-free snaps on the legs.

Tricky and Titch are also committed to being “carbon-neutral” by investing in renewable energy sources based on their carbon calculations for their day-to-day energy consumption. What a bonus! I’m so glad that a small company that could say “we just can’t afford it because we’re still growing” has decided not to say that. I’m impressed! And cute clothes to boot! Go check them out…

Holy Toddling, Tater Tot!

Filed under: Mommy Tips, Random Mommy Musings, Baby Style, Sleeping — The Mommy @ 7:38 pm

The Tater Tot is walking! She went from very little interest in walking to intense interest in walking with a walker to “Mommy you’d better walk with me and hold my hands or I’ll get fussy” to “Look at me!” in two weeks! Granted she is just taking tentative steps but she got most of the way across her room today all by herself. And she’s making a concerted effort to let go of the furniture and walk the 4-5 steps to the next location now instead of plopping down on her bottom and crawling. It’s so much fun to see her gain confidence. She concentrates so hard but smiles so big when I clap for her! Of course that means I need to make sure I get my rest because I’ll be running after her now.

Mommy tip: I bought Tater Tot some lovely rubber soled shoes from Stride Rite (more expensive) and Target (less expensive but still not cheap) when she started crawling alot and pulling up on the furniture. Completely useless. Don’t buy shoes until they need them to protect their feet when they’re walking outdoors unless you have money to spare/burn. I read today (I forget where) that they really should be learning to walk barefoot anyway to develop their leg muscles. I have little faux leather (in other words cheap) shoes that she wears sometimes but most of the time she is barefoot inside.

Update on the Back to Basics—Sleeping. She completely skipped her afternoon nap and was difficult to get down for bed time. I put her down after we went to the park even though it seemed a little early but she had rubbed her eyes and yawned a couple of time so I thought she was ready. It turns out that she had “quiet play time” in her crib for over an hour during the afternoon but didn’t want to sleep. When I went in there she was standing in her crib swinging Mr. Duckie back and forth and grinning. Huh. But by the time bed time rolled around, she was completely out of whack because she had been awake since 9:30am. Not good. Hopefully we’ll get back on track tomorrow.

Speaking of back on track, I’ll sign off for now so I can get the dishes done before my “on-time bed time” tonight.

See ya’!

I came across this gift bag today at GoToBaby.com that would be great for a baby shower or baby up to 12 months old!  You can personalize not only the tote bag with the baby’s initial but also the items in the bag.  It comes with nice, thick burp cloths trimmed with ribbon, a beautiful sweater, a soft and cozy blanket, and a baby bath robe.  And, it’s on sale!

Spring is Right Around the Corner

Filed under: Baby Style — The Mommy @ 9:21 pm

It’s easy to feel like Spring is right around the corner where I live.  It rarely dips below 55 degrees during the day in the winter and it never snows.  Barely rains.  But it is March 1st wherever you live and April is not far behind.  Soon you’ll be able to dig yourself out of the house, throw on some cooler clothes and smell the flowers instead of smelling the….uh, snow, I guess!

If you are of the church persuasion, even if it is only on Christmas and Easter, check out the Easter dress ideas on this page .  Dimples and Dandelions  has some of the most amazingly cute Spring dresses for The Little Princess.
